Today we ventured to Sun Studios at 706 Union Ave. This place is considered by some to be thebirthplace of rock and roll, blues and soul. It's most famous for being the place Elvis Aron Presley cut his first record.
Some other famous people to record at Sun studios include Carl Perkins, BB King, Ike Turner, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and Jerry Lee Lewis.
Besides doing tours during the day, it has reopened in 1987 as a working recording studio. The "modern" stars to record there since the re-opening read like a whose who; Matchbox 20, Def Leppard, Beck, Bonnie Wraith, Paul Simon, Ringo Starr and last but not least Bono and U2 recorded a little track called When Love Comes To Town, as well as others from the Rattle and Hum album there.
I was privileged enough to be able to belt out a verse of Love me Tender on the actual mic used by the King himself. Quite an amazing place and a massive part of the history of Rock and Roll.
